Dog walking in Rittenhouse & Fitler Square

Rittenhouse is our busiest neighborhood, and most of our clients here found us through a neighbor. We walk one-on-one from the Square to the Schuylkill on weekdays, with a primary walker who gets to know your dog, your building, and your block.

  • Employee walkers, not contractors
  • Front desk key pickup
  • Photos and the GPS route after every walk

Where we walk around here

There’s no set route. Your walker picks the loop that suits your dog’s age, energy, and nerves, and the GPS map in your visit report shows exactly where you went.

Rittenhouse Square

Around the Square

Shady paths under old trees, Paul Cret’s stone railings and fountains, and Billy the goat statue, a favorite stop for toddlers and big dogs alike. It’s busy at lunchtime, which makes it good practice for city manners. The Friends of Rittenhouse Square are restoring the lawns a section at a time, so we keep to the paths and off anything fenced.

Good for: 20- and 30-minute walks, and dogs who like to people-watch

23rd & Pine, Delancey, Panama

Fitler Square and the quiet blocks

West of the Square the traffic thins out. The narrow streets around Fitler Square are some of the calmest in Center City, which suits puppies, older dogs, and dogs who startle at buses. The square itself is half an acre with a Victorian fountain and a few animal sculptures. Dogs stay on the paths there and out of the gardens the neighbors plant every year.

Good for: Puppies, seniors, and dogs who’d rather skip the crowds

Schuylkill River Park & the trail

Down to the river

From 25th and Locust, the bridge over the rail tracks leads down to the Schuylkill River Trail, where the boardwalk runs 2,000 feet out over the water to the South Street Bridge. On the way you pass the community garden and the dog run at 25th and Spruce. Freight trains run right beside the park and the horns can be loud, so for sound-sensitive dogs we pick a different route.

Good for: 60-minute walks and dogs with energy to burn

Doormen, elevators, and front stoops

A good walk here starts at the front door. Tell us how your home works, and we’ll follow it.

Front desk and elevator buildings

If your building has a front desk, we can pick up your keys there before each walk and drop them off after. We follow the building’s rules, whether that means signing in, taking the service elevator, or using a side entrance, and your dog stays close on a short leash in the lobby and the elevator.

Most desks are quick, but a wait at the desk can take a few minutes out of the walk.

We don’t take dogs into public dog parks. If your building has its own dog run or pet area, we can use it with your OK.

Rowhouses, trinities, and walk-ups

Most of our clients now use a smart lock or a lockbox. If we do hold a key, it’s kept safe and never stored with anything that identifies your home.

Third-floor walk-up, a crate upstairs, a gate by the kitchen: walkers get your instructions for the inside of your home, too, so your dog’s routine stays the same when we’re there.

Your primary walker, and the team behind them

Once your weekly schedule is set, you’ll have a primary walker who learns your dog, your building, and your routine, and handles most of your walks.

Rittenhouse and Fitler Square are where we walk the most, so a good part of our team is on these blocks every weekday. When your walker is off, out sick, or unavailable, another trained walker covers the walk with your dog’s care notes and access details, and you still get the report, notes, and photos from whoever was there. If your walker leaves us, we’ll match you with a new primary walker.

The more regular your schedule, the more consistent your walker will be. Every walker is our own employee: background-checked, trained by us, and insured.

Will my pup have the same walker each day?

Some of the people you’ll see on these blocks. Which of them becomes your primary walker depends on your schedule.
